Single family house in Valdemorillo – Madrid

Taking advantage of the orography of the land and the existing vegetation in the lower part of the building plot, the typical plans for a single family home were inverted.

The superior level, completely diaphanous, was designed as the entrance and living area of the house, enabling cross ventilation throughout the whole space and unimpeded views of the valley by the use of a continuous glass enclosure which is set back to protect against the summer heat.

The lower level, partly beneath ground level, makes up the private zone of the house and offers privacy to the bedrooms via the leafy vegetation found in this area of the plot.

The displacement of the rooms, which look to the front of the plot, and come forward slightly, permit the use of the roof of the lower floor as a large terrace for the upper living area, contributing to a broken volume in consonance with the slope of the building plot.
